On January 31, 2025, Joana Xavier, principal researcher at CIIMAR and coordinator of TwinDEEPS, presented the project to researchers and staff from the Interdisciplinary Centre of Marine and Environmental Research (CIIMAR).
The event was held in CIIMAR’s headquarters as a special edition of the Oceanus seminar series, with a full room of over 30 participants.
TwinDEEPS will build a generation of highly qualified deep-sea researchers at CIIMAR, across all career stages. Joana provided an overview of the project and explained how the CIIMAR community can participate and benefit from TwinDEEPS. To help tailor the training activities to the community’s interests and level of expertise, a survey was carried out among CIIMAR researchers and staff interested in the project’s activities.
