The TwinDEEPS Habitat Mapping and Modelling workshop, organized by our partner Institute of Marine Research (IMR), Norway and CIIMAR, took place in Porto, Portugal.
This workshop was part of our thematic series aimed at training the next generation of deep-sea scientists and it equipped participants with the concepts and methods needed to generate biotope maps, which can be used to inform effective marine management and conservation. 🌊
One of the highlights of this workshop was the diverse group of participants. Researchers from different backgrounds joined us, including CIIMAR researchers, colleagues from other national institutions working on the deep sea (MARE-Madeira, CESAM, Okeanos, CCMAR, IPMA), and from our TwinDEEPS partner NIOZ. This mix of barckgrounds and expertise fostered rich discussions, knowledge exchange and networking opportunities.
