Exploring the Latest Subsea Technologies at Oceanology International

The TwinDEEPS team participated in Oceanology International (OI), held in London. Organised biennially, OI is a leading global forum that brings together the marine science and ocean technology communities.

Over the course of the event, TwinDEEPS members engaged with researchers, engineers, and technology developers, exploring a wide range of emerging tools and sensors for deep-sea observation. These included towed camera systems, seabed landers, and both Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROVs) and Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUVs), all of which play a key role in advancing deep-sea exploration.

The programme featured a diverse set of activities, including panel discussions and technical workshops focused on the future of ocean exploration and mapping, uncrewed systems, marine data analysis. Live demonstrations of newly developed equipment further highlighted the rapid pace of technological innovation in the sector.

Oceanology International was also a great opportunity to strengthen connections within the Portuguese marine research community, as well as to engage with international partners and organisations contributing to major advances in deep-ocean science and exploration.

Participation in Oceanology International enabled TwinDEEPS to remain aligned with the latest technological developments and to foster collaboration with the global community driving innovation in ocean research.
